How to get the proper volume in your gown.

When to use a Hoop versus a Pannier, or do I need both? A Hoop will flare out your gown or skirt, to add volume to the bottom, and give it that quintessential ballgown, or 360 degree silhouette.
A Pannier is sometimes also known as a side hoop or basket, that is meant for the hips only. It widens the gown or skirt to get a better view of the design, and to give it more lift.
Can you use both? Absolutely! There are some styles of gowns that actually benefit from using both. You would use both when you want to create the desired 360 degree bell effect, but your gown or skirt also has a design, or layer of material, that would be better supported by the lift of a pannier. If we recommend the use of one or the other, it will be specifically mentioned in the listing of the gown. When in doubt, please feel free to ask us for assistance.
