The Veil Skirt in Rose Poudre - Convertible Court Skirt

Sale price$ 195.00 USD

The Veil Skirt in Rose Poudré is a convertible court skirt from Madame Mortelle, rooted in one of the earliest teachings attributed to Tilly Mortelle: that power should never arrive exposed, and that revelation must always be deliberate. In Mortelle doctrine, the veil is not concealment—it is preparation.

This interpretation of the Veil is rendered in Rose Poudré, a soft French court floral recalling the powdered silks and delicate garden textiles worn throughout the salons of the eighteenth century. Scattered rose blossoms drift across the fabric in gentle repetition, lending the skirt a romantic elegance that feels equally at home within the theatrical ritual of Madame Mortelle and the luminous courts of Immortelle.

Designed with built-in skirt hikes and controlled gathers, the Veil Skirt allows the wearer to alter her silhouette at will. When worn lowered, it falls as a long, flowing court skirt—composed, graceful, and restrained. When the hikes are drawn, the skirt transforms, lifting into sculptural drapery that reveals depth, movement, and layered volume beneath. Nothing is revealed without choice.

A deep gathered ruffle at the hem adds weight and movement, ensuring the transformation reads as architectural rather than ornamental. The effect is deliberate and theatrical, designed for presence rather than spectacle alone.

Within the House of Madame Mortelle, the Veil Skirt is understood as a ceremonial garment—one worn at the threshold between readiness and revelation. Within the Court of Immortelle, the same form becomes courtly architecture, falling beautifully over crinolines and panniers and responding to the structure beneath rather than concealing it.

The expression changes. The intention does not.

In its Rose Poudré palette, the Veil Skirt was created to move in harmony with the French Court Rose Poudré Corset, forming a complete silhouette inspired by the soft floral elegance of the French court. Together they create a composition of structure, movement, and restrained romance—corsetry and drapery working in concert to shape the wearer’s presence.

The Veil is not worn to be seen.
It is worn to decide when revelation begins.

Rose Poudre is an original Immortelle textile, created exclusively for the atelier. Developed through historical research and artistic interpretation, it draws from the softened palettes and floral compositions of 18th-century decorative arts — allowing the gown to feel rooted in history while remaining entirely its own. ✧

FOUNDATIONS OF SILHOUETTE

What Is Worn Beneath

The character of an Immortelle skirt is shaped by what lies beneath it. Panniers widen the stance, petticoats soften the line, and layered undergarments create depth and movement. Each foundation alters the presence of the skirt, allowing one piece to shift effortlessly between eras, occasions, and expressions.

The Immortelle Salon

Historically, salons were spaces where dress, art, and presence were shared and witnessed. The Immortelle Salon honors those who wear the house — capturing garments in life, movement, and personal expression.
