Immortelle Gown — Marie Antoinette–Inspired 18th Century Corset Gown in Baroque Gold Taffeta
This iteration of the Immortelle Gown is crafted in Baroque Gold Taffeta, a textile selected for its beautiful color and its quiet dialogue with 18th-century court dress. While the silhouette remains the signature Marie Antoinette–inspired robe à la française corset gown, the fabric shifts the expression to a more Royal of occasions, allowing the same design to speak in a different voice.
This was the first gown I ever designed, and she remains the truest expression of the Immortelle atelier. Inspired by Marie Antoinette and a lifelong devotion to 18th-century French fashion, this gown represents years of study, refinement, and reverence for historical dress interpreted through a modern lens.
Technically inspired by the robe a la francaise, the Immortelle Gown is a modern Marie Antoinette–style corset gown designed for contemporary wear. She is not a historically accurate reproduction, but a couture interpretation — honoring the drama, structure, and romance of the era while embracing modern construction, comfort, and versatility.
At her core, the Immortelle Gown features a fully spiral steel built-in corset, offering sculpted support and shaping while allowing for graceful movement. A four-inch modesty panel at both the front and back is intentionally incorporated into the design, allowing for adjustability, comfort, and an exceptional, personalized fit over time. This construction ensures the gown adapts to the wearer rather than restricting her.
Our Marie Antoinette Robe à la Française Corset Gown is designed to be worn over panniers, side hoops, or full hoop skirts — including the largest pannier styles, making her ideal for balls, formal events, Renaissance festivals, historical costume settings, and immersive experiences.
Over the years, the Immortelle Gown has undergone thoughtful refinements — not reinvention, but evolution. She has been worn by collectors and public figures alike, and has traveled internationally while remaining unmistakably herself. Each adjustment reflects experience gained through wear, movement, and time.
This offering is for the overdress only.
Skirts, panniers, hoop skirts, stomachers, and additional styling elements are purchased separately, allowing each client to customize their ensemble according to personal taste, proportions, and desired silhouette.
In fact, the Immortelle Gown is the very reason our stomachers were created. Designed to fit her perfectly, Immortelle stomachers integrate seamlessly with this gown, allowing for endless customization while preserving the integrity of the original design.
The Immortelle Gown is a Marie Antoinette–inspired corset gown, a modern robe a la francaise overdress, and the matriarch of the Immortelle collection. She exists at the intersection of history and fantasy — ceremonial yet wearable, dramatic yet intentional.
She is legacy in fabric form.
✧ Each Immortelle gown may vary subtly with the dye lot and character of its lace and fabric, ensuring that every collection — and every dress — carries its own gentle distinctions ✧
